The Segovia Guitar Academy is pleased to announce the first edition of the Segovia Online Guitar Competition, a contest aimed at discovering and promoting young professional artists through an international-level selection. The winner will have the opportunity to perform in a paid concert during the 2026 edition of the Segovia Guitar Week, a festival that annually hosts some of the most recognized performers worldwide.
REGULATIONS
1. Eligibility Requirements
Guitarists of any nationality born on or after January 1, 1995, are eligible to participate.
2. Participation Guidelines
Each candidate must submit a one-take video recording of their performance by uploading it to their YouTube channel as a public video.
The video must show the full figure of the candidate while performing.
It is mandatory to include the official competition logo, which can be downloaded from the Segovia Guitar Academy website, clearly visible in the video (e.g., on a panel, music stand, or a poster in the background).
Candidates must include the video link in the registration form.
Technical Requirements:
The video must have sufficient audio quality to ensure an accurate assessment of the performance.
The use of an external microphone or a device with good sound quality is recommended to capture the dynamics and timbral quality of the instrument.
The video file must be recorded in a minimum resolution of 720p.
3. Repertoire
The performance must include a freely chosen repertoire lasting no less than 30 minutes and no more than 40 minutes, plus one study selected from Heitor Villa-Lobos’ Douze Etudes, choosing from the following: Nos. 2, 3, 5, 7, 10, 11, 12.
All pieces must be performed from memory.
4. Registration Process
Candidates must register by completing the form available on the Segovia Guitar Academy website by October 18, 2025.
Registration for the competition is free.
The application must be sent to the email address info@segoviaguitaracademy.com with the following attached documents:
- A valid identity document
- Two high-resolution photos
- Artistic CV
- Proposed program
Personal data provided in the registration form will be processed in compliance with Legislative Decree No. 196 of 2003, as amended by Legislative Decree No. 101 of 2018, in accordance with EU Regulation No. 679 of 2016 (GDPR), and under Royal Decree No. 633 of 1941.
5. Prize
The winner will perform a paid concert (guaranteed fee of 700 Euros net + accommodation) during the 2026 edition of the Segovia Guitar Week.
The winner will be announced on November 22, 2025, at the opening of one of the festival concerts. The winner’s name will be published on the association’s website.
6. Jury
The jury, composed of the festival’s artistic committee, will evaluate candidates based on:
- The artistic proposal presented
- Interpretation and musicality
- Technical execution
- Overall performance quality
The jury’s decision will be final and indisputable.
7. Acceptance of Regulations
Applying for the Competition implies the contestant’s unconditional acceptance of all the rules outlined in these regulations. In case of disputes, the only legally valid text is the original in Italian.
